Compress your videos online for free — no signup, no watermark, no software to install. Reduce the size of MP4, MOV, AVI, and other video files while keeping high quality. Just upload, choose your settings, and download the compressed file in seconds.
Tip: MP4 with Medium resolution gives the best balance between quality and file size for most people. It plays on virtually every device and platform.
Most email providers (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo) limit attachments to 25MB. Choose "Small (360p)" and MP4 format to shrink your video enough to send as an attachment. For longer videos, consider trimming them first before compressing.
WhatsApp limits videos to about 16MB. Instagram applies its own compression, which often degrades quality. By compressing your video yourself before uploading, you stay in control of the result. Medium resolution works best for social platforms.
Large video files slow down websites and cause buffering on slow connections. Compressing videos before embedding them on your site improves load times and user experience. Choose "Large" to keep the original resolution while still reducing file size.
4K video can use 300–400MB per minute. Compressing your video library frees up space on your phone, laptop, or cloud storage — without a noticeable drop in playback quality.
E-learning & Online Courses
Teachers and trainers use our compressor to make video lectures smaller and easier to upload and stream. Compressed videos load faster for students, especially in remote learning environments with limited bandwidth.
Work & Email
Need to share a meeting recording or presentation? Compress it to fit within email size limits or upload it faster to cloud storage like Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive.
Social Media & Messaging
Compress videos before posting on WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, or Messenger. Keep high quality while meeting each platform's file size requirements.
Resolution is the number of pixels in your video — more pixels means a sharper image but a bigger file size. Here's what each preset does:
| Preset | Resolution | Best for | Typical size reduction |
| Small | 360p | Email, messaging apps | 80–90% smaller |
| Medium | 720p–1080p | Social media, web | 50–70% smaller |
| Small | 360p | Email, messaging apps | 80–90% smaller |
| Large | Original | Archiving, quality-first | 20–40% smaller |
| Custom | You choose | Specific requirements | Varies |
The codec determines how your video is compressed. The choice affects both file size and quality:
H.264 (AVC) — The most widely used video codec. Offers good compression with high compatibility. Supported by virtually every device, browser, and platform. This is what most online tools (including ours) use by default.
H.265 (HEVC)
— The successor to H.264. Achieves roughly 50% better compression at the same quality level. Ideal for 4K video. However, not all devices and browsers support it yet.
MPEG-2 — An older codec still used for DVDs and some broadcast systems. Less efficient than H.264/H.265 but remains compatible with legacy equipment.
MPEG-4 Part 2 — Common in older streaming applications and video-on-demand services. Being gradually replaced by H.264.
Which codec should you choose? For most users, H.264 is the safest choice — it's fast, compatible, and produces good results. If you're compressing 4K video and your target device supports HEVC, H.265 will give you smaller files at the same quality.
